Instead of setting up a new business structure in Australia, you may prefer to register an Australian Branch of your existing overseas company with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).
Registering an Australian Branch of your foreign company with ASIC, will allow you to conduct business throughout all States and Territories of Australia, as though your company was an Australian Registered Business.
You may prefer to register a separate, new Australian company as a subsidiary of your existing overseas company. In such cases, SBSU Australia is perfectly positioned to set up this new local business structure.
Once your Branch is registered, ASIC will issue your foreign registered company with an Australian Registered Body Number, or ARBN, which is similar to a local ABN or Australian Business Number. The branch may then conduct business in Australia.
To correctly maintain an Australian Branch, lodgement of an annual balance sheet, profit & loss plus any other report that is required by law in its jurisdiction. Audited financial reports may be requested by ASIC.
Whilst an Australian Branch is required to appoint a Local Agent, a subsidiary will require an Australian Resident Director. We can also provide a Nominee Director in some cases for a subsidiary company.
